Real-Time Positioning and Surveillance Underground and Inside Buildings

4TS CIS™ (Context Information System) provides the geographical position of people, vehicles and various assets in locations without GPS and mobile network coverage. Various environment sensors transfer information about local conditions to the alert management system module. Positioning and data transmission is provided by a wireless network that also enables the use of video cameras.

Location Determination

Subterranean tunnels and also buildings above the ground typically have no GPS coverage nor any data transmission network. As there is no line of sight to GPS satellites, positioning of people, vehicles and assets does not work automatically. Mobile telephone networks inside buildings can provide the approximate location of the terminal, but this is frequently not accurate enough for many types of services.

4TS CIS™ uses sophisticated algorithms in the already existing or planned WLAN or wireless sensor network to calculate the exact location of people, vehicles and various assets. 4TS CIS™ includes the ability to view the position and movement of people and assets on a visual map either real-time or alternatively browse movement history data.

Environment Sensors

The same data transmission network supports multiple sensors which include temperature, humidity, smoke detection, motion detection, airflow meter and various others. Limit values for each of the sensors can be predefined and if this value is exceeded, e.g. if temperature is too high or smoke is detected, an alert is generated.

Real-Time Monitoring

The location can be divided into various zones with different properties, e.g. "safe" and "restricted" zones. Alert management is carried out based on predefined rules and also by analyzing data received real-time from various sensors. This significantly improves quality and security management within any organization and allows them to carry out their respective processes accurately.
